You will need:
- a multi-channel audio editing package, such as Digidesign's Pro Tools
- an audio interface with 6 or more audio outputs
- a 5.1 channel surround sound speaker system
Download and decompress (as necessary) all 6 individual MP3 files below.
To download each of these files, right-click on the named link and save each file to your computer desktop by using the "Save Link As" command. |
Import the 6 files into your editing software. Conversion into your native audio file format will most likely be necessary - for example, into WAV or AIFF).
Connect your surround sound monitoring speakers to six individual outputs of your audio interface. We recommend this order for your outputs:

Create 6 mono audio tracks in a timeline.
Set the playback volume of each track to an identical level.
Route the outputs of each of these tracks to one of the six individual outputs on your audio interface, one track for each output. It may be helpful to name each track after its associated speaker channel.
Load each of the six demo files into the appropriate audio track. Follow these guidelines:

".L" - load into the track that is routed to the Left Speaker
".R" - load into the track that is routed to the Right Speaker
".C" - load into the track that is routed to the Center Speaker
".Lf" - load into the track that is routed to the LFE Speaker (subwoofer)
".Ls" - load into the track that is routed to the Left Surround Speaker
".Rs" - load into the track that is routed to the Right Surround Speaker |
Create 6 mono audio tracks in a timeline.
Align each file so that it starts at exactly the same time - this should be done with sample accuracy.
Alternately, if your audio editing software supports surround sound tracks you can simply create one of these tracks, route its output to your surround sound speakers and load the audio files directly into this track.
